Guide · Kneel alternatives
Looking for a Kneel alternative?
Kneel is one of the most complete D/s apps in the app stores, and for many couples it is the right one. What it does well, the reasons couples sometimes want something different, the main alternatives, and how to move across without losing your routine.
What Kneel does well
It is worth saying plainly: Kneel is a good app. It covers tasks with photo proof, rituals with streaks, permission requests, daily mood and chastity check-ins with a trend view, contracts both partners sign, and chastity tracking. It is in both the App Store and Google Play, one Premium subscription covers the whole dynamic rather than each person, and there is a plan that needs no payment at all.
It also takes privacy seriously, with proof photos encrypted on the phone before they are uploaded and a Face ID or fingerprint lock included for everyone. If those are what you care about most, and you want an app from the app store, there may be no reason to move.
If Kneel is working for you, keep it. Move only for something you will use.
Why couples look elsewhere
When couples do look for something else, it is usually for one of these reasons. Each points somewhere different.
- They want it in a browser. We could not find a web version on Kneel’s site. Some people would rather not have an app with a kink name in their app-store history, or want to use a laptop as well as a phone.
- The conversation lives somewhere else. Kneel has shared notes, but we could not find a private chat or a shared calendar named on its site, so many couples keep those in other apps.
- They want a game. Some couples want points, levels and a shop front and centre, more than structure and welfare.
- Chastity with a community. Couples who want an online keyholder, or a community around their lock-ups, often want a dedicated chastity app.
Try changing how you use it first
Before switching, it is worth asking whether the problem is the app or the way it is set up. Too many rituals, a contract nobody has reread, or check-ins that are filled in but never answered will feel the same in any app. Trim the list, have the conversation, and give it a fortnight. If the gap is still there, it is a real one.
Questions to settle before you switch
- What is missing? Name the two or three things you keep doing outside the app. That is the list the next app must cover.
- What are we giving up? Write down what Kneel does that you rely on — biometric locks, the trend view, the way contracts are versioned — and check the next app does the same.
- App store or web? Both are reasonable, and it is worth deciding before you compare features.
- Who pays, and what happens if you stop? Check whether one subscription covers both of you and what keeps working without it.
The main alternatives
These are described from each app’s own website. Our comparison page puts them side by side, with prices.
SubTasks is the choice if you want the game: points, streaks, achievements, rewards and punishments, with a great deal available without paying anything. Chat, timers and unlimited photo proof are on its paid plan.
Obedience is a simpler habit tracker with points, rewards and punishments, on phones and the web. If Kneel feels like more than you need, it is a lighter option. Our Obedience guide covers it fairly.
Chaster is a chastity app with a large community, and the one to look at if chastity with an online keyholder is the missing piece. See our guide to chastity apps.
My Dynamic, which we make, is a web app for couples who want the whole relationship, including chat and a calendar, in one private place. More on it at the end.
Moving across without losing momentum
- Export first. Kneel offers a data export. Take one before you leave, so your history is yours whatever you decide.
- List your routine. Every task, ritual, rule, consequence and limit. Apps rarely import from each other, so this list is what you will set up from.
- Set up together. Sit side by side for the first evening, so the submissive’s side of the new app is not a surprise.
- Pick a start day. Stop in one and start in the other on the same day, rather than running both.
- Review after two weeks. Keep what helps, and drop what only adds admin.
Carry over the routine, not the app. The routine is what was working.
How My Dynamic helps
My Dynamic holds the whole dynamic in one place: daily protocols, written rules, tasks with photo proof, asking permission, mood check-ins, a journal, a private chat, a shared calendar, chastity lock-ups and a contract you both sign. Some things need both of you to say yes before they start, either of you can pause everything with one tap, and proof photos are deleted once reviewed unless you both choose to keep them.
It is a web app you add to your home screen, so nothing with its name on appears in an app-store account, and one subscription covers you both. See the tour of the features, or how it compares with Kneel and the rest.
Everything above, kept between the two of you.
